CITY OF EMERYVILLE: A Message from Mayor Martinez

Lettertoeditor04

City of Emeryville issued the following announcement on Dec. 11

On December 4th, Bay Area health officers moved to pre-emptively implement the State’s stay at home order, effective through January 4th, 2021.  The press release on this action can be found here.  General county updates can be found here.

The general message is that on top of what we’ve already been doing to suppress infections of COVID-19 (hand-washing, mask-wearing, and social distancing), what we really need to do to keep each other safe this holiday season is to stay home as much as possible.   These stricter measures can save lives and improve conditions so that we can see our loved ones and re-open businesses sooner than otherwise.

Please help to ease the pressure on our frontline healthcare workers by avoiding even small gatherings with people outside of your household.  It is within all of our capabilities to contribute to the containment of this deadly pandemic.

Here’s wishing you a safe holiday season.  With vaccines on the way, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I look forward to celebrating with all of you in times to come.
