On Friday, Feb. 7, former Newark Memorial High School standouts Owen Gallegos and Robert Ellwanger’s current college team, the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, lost 9-7 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the Menlo Oaks.

The game took place at Pioneer Baseball Field. This was their first matchup against the Oaks this season.

The Pioneers’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. at Cartan Baseball Field against Menlo Oaks.
